April 1-2: “Backcountry IBA stewardship field work”: Patagonia Mtns. “mapping impacts” field work for IBA volunteers. (Drive down Thurs, a.m., drive back Friday evening). Travel of old mining roads and FS roads. We will use GPS units, digital cameras, and field notebooks to document impacts/“stressors” and threats to habitat for birds in this potential IBA. Primitive camping one night within the range.

New dates: Date Change- due late spring phenology in the canyons
April 27-28: Patagonia Mtns. “backcountry bird survey” (migration/spring breeders). We will conduct bird surveys, Tuesday & Wednesday morning (participants arrive Monday afternoon/evening to set camp). Camping two nights in the “high range”, survey in teams of two within canyons or drainages of interest. Harshaw and Alum drainages will be a focus. Primitive camping.
June 17-19: Patagonia Mtns. bird survey (Thurs. night through Sat. morning).
Surveys in “High Range” canyons (and maybe mountain) transects. Breeding bird focus. Camp Mowry Creek or Finley & Adams Creek base camp. Primitive camping two nights within the range.
